Do we Americans Fear Change?
The democratic campaign for the presidency nomination is in a make or break stage and New York Times has put its money behind Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama.

Issue of race and gender remains but the editorial board of NYT gives it to Hillary’s experience when compared to Obama’s rhetoric about change.

The February 5 primaries for the democratic nomination will settle much of the dust that has been kicked up during the campaign.

Going by the support each candidate has drawn, the Democrats are divided along race and gender lines, even if the candidates themselves deny that this is any issue in the campaign.

The acrimony that is building into the campaign is spilling out in the debates.

Seven years of Bush’s government has America suffering an identity crisis. Its role as the sole Global power faces challenges at home and abroad.

Funding and keeping alive a war that other powers refused to take part in has hit the economy at many levels.

Health care, education policies like No Child Left Behind have faltered under Bush and the economy is threatening to get into recession. Hillary does score over Obama in trying to provide alternatives to repair the damage done.

It’s on foreign policy issues that Obama comes across as a breath of fresh air. His willingness to talk and possibly negotiate peace with nations like Cuba and Iran, mark a change from the past.

Arrogance of a super power or being the most powerful nation limits the space needed for talking down to lesser mortals.

America fears this change.

Both in terms generation now ideas prevailing upon ones tried over many decades and that a man from the black race should get there into White House before a White Woman.

No matter how the Democrat nominees squabble over the polices they propose, the Republican campaign appears to be maturing over more serious issues.

As the elections gets into overdrive, McCain may just get the better of the Democrats who could be left licking the wounds presidential nominee candidates inflict on each other.

Interesting!!! Who will win the race to White House..the black man or white woman..the US people badly in need of a fresh leader and Hillary has the second name ’Clinton’. some other media reports than NYT have also indicated that a change in favor of Obama is in basket.

In Philadelphia, Hillary Clinton, waiting to become the first woman president in US, staggered badly on the question of giving undocumented workers driver's licenses. She tried to hide herself under the shadow of her spouse Clinton. Her speeches were full of dullness; her voice too piercing.

The US Presidential election 2008 is going to be historic, for it is fielding first time either a woman or black in the line-up. It does not matter who the Democratic presidential candidate is; one is clearly visible i.e. ideological battle between civil rights and women’s rights, what I can say civil rights vs. women rights. Initially Obama did not raise the issue of race profoundly though Clinton tried to woo the women voters by echoing her extensive experience in the male-dominated arena of politics and government. Now the campaign heats up. The battle line has been drawn and is more prominent now. Whatever that may, as an outsider I foresee both the candidates can not avoid the added responsibility being developed out of their legacy.

Changes? Who needs it.. We need someone who can make the United States as respectable country particularly in the eastern part of the globs. Economic recession is alarming, home prices are going downwards; the weather is terrible even in the month of January. President Bush is busy deciding the fates of eastern countries. We need someone to take care of US citizens.

Opinion polls have indicated that the economy is speedily becoming the most important issue for majority of the US citizens by replacing Iraq issue. The emergence of the economy as the key issue in presidential poll might favor Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama.

It’s not a question of change as it is inevitable rather it’s time for the Americans of not allowing mediocrity coming their way…it’s a critical time for them hence, they must select the most deserving candidate!

You said it right Derrick, President Bush, in seven years in the office, forced the country to suffer an identity crisis. Its role as the sole superpower facing challenges abroad. Us needs a leader who could change policies on which the Bush administration is working now. Will the first woman US president be able to do it?

I think the 'Clinton' factor will damage Hillary's campaign against Obama. After all, there are many people who hate 'Bill' more than Obama.

Why should Americans fear change? Americans are the champions of changes in thoughts, science, technology, politics, literature, art etc. The idea called America is all about change and quick adaptability. We change how the world thinks, and does things. For doing that successfully over the years, we had to be open to changes too.

America needs a change now. By doing that, it will not only change this unpopular administration, but change in the way that either a lady holds the presidency or a black. This will surely usher in some fresh air in the now stagnant and rotten American government that has not seen any lady or black holding the top executive post.

We’re not afraid of change, for change there certainly will be, neither we’re looking for someone with magnificent personality, but rather a smart person who can steer us out of the subprime mortgages, war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and can provide better social security that Bush destroyed. Obama may be a good guy and a nice orator indeed and Hillary is the lady with tolerance who stood with Bill after Monica relationship and while Bill by her side with his administrative experience, Hillary would be, for me at least, the best choice. So be with Hillary and you’ll realize the difference

Here the question is of right choice for the America. They’d really not like to repent as they did in the case of Bush. I’ll go all the way with Obama. And there is a reason for that. Because I don’t want to see the dynastic rule in USA. Bill in White House and Hillary as a senator for the eight years, have enough bite of the political pie in US. It’s enough now… give chance to others.

Are we left with only The Bush-Clinton-Bush-Dynasty to vote in the presidential election? Come on! now some changes in white house and in mentality as well. Obama is ethical, competent and would bring change. He is a man the US could be proud of.

US flourished under Bill Clinton, earned a great deal of money and since Bush came in, the dark era started for US . SO now US is really looking for someone who can change their fortunes. Yes, US will be in safe hands while Bill and Hillary working side by side. The other reason for this is no other member of Republican or Democratic Party is so competent and I am not voting for the wife of a great leader but for her pragmatism that she has shown tremendously during her campaign.

Hey!! Hillary would be the best choice…coz here comes the offer – one is free with the other. Yes with Hillary as the president, we’ll have the experience of two presidents for the price of one. Isn’t it a great offer? Should Hillary get the nod, fortunes will follow and Obama, though will be more influenced by the common voter, however, I think, won’t do worse than "Idiot Bush" at least.

Luck to Obama… all the way to white house. Go get it Obama and that will be a turning point in the history of the United States, to world and to everyone. He really needs to focus on bringing one nation together and with that I also want him to use the experience of Hillary standing beside him as his deputy.

It doesn't make any difference, whosoever will sit in the presidential chair is destined to make some tough decisions, and that would determine his /her metal. But surely it’s time for all to say good bye to unruly Bush and that is more interesting a factor to rejoice with before white house welcomes next president.

shocking…shocking, shocking.. I have nothing else to say after knowing US people are voting on the bases of the black-white, male-female rather choosing one who is best for the job. I firmly believe that Hillary and Obama are capable to sort out the problems that they probably face in future but the agenda and the thinking is just shocking…

While countries such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Israel overlooked ’gender’ and ’race’ to send democratically-elected women leaders at the top of national politics, the US Democrats, just like the Australian Labor Party, is still insisting that after all gender does matter if questions come to national-level politics. And they say they are developed countries..phew!!!

Obama is a Muslim. He was earlier described as a Muslim while was in school in Indonesia. At that time, his mother was living with her second husband. Obama had even attended the local mosque with his step-father on several occasions. Will a Muslim become the master of White House?

So what Obama has attended mosques when he was in school. Now is is the member of a Christian congregation. His political opponents are also saying that he is not black. He may not be a woman, he may not be black, but he has more experience than either Democrat candidates.

Yes and they are using every tips to score over another. Hillary is doing it great. Political supporters-cum-agents of Hillary have spreading in media and in the Democratic circles that she has something secrete but important information against Barack Obama, but she would not use those evidences here. Isn't is Indianized political game?

Bill Clinton is very clever and experienced political leader. He just wants to avoid a repeat of the incidents what had happened in fund raising process for 2004 presidential election. At that time, presidential candidates Howard Dean and Richard Gephardt attacked on each other so hard that it paved the way for the nomination of John Kerry as presidential candidate. So, he would definitely restrict the 'race', 'religion' and gender issue.

Obama has never tried to hide anything and never showed concerned with what Hillary was saying. People are watching how how desperate Hillary was becoming. She complained about mudslinging on Obama and the world was watching who was actually doing it. This is being said that Hillary has some secrets against Obama. the battle has become much interesting now.

By showing such desperation, Hillary is herself damaging her reputation. She should talk about several issues US is facing at present and should ask Obama to counter her thoughts. It will be much better debate then. What she is doing right now is not acceptable.

I have read this joke on Hillary somewhere on Internet -
Hillary was on the way to start another day of campaigning against Obama and the ghost of Saul Alinsky, Her old Mentor, appeared before her. She asked him 'What should I do to become first woman president of US ?' Saul Alinsky answered - 'Well, First you'll have to have Obama, his family, and his political supporters locked up in Guantanimo Bay after leveling false charges against all of them. Second, you'll have to paint your nose Red.' Hillary responded by little surprise 'Why do I have to paint my nose Red?' Saul Alinsky said 'I knew you wouldn't ask about why you had to do the first work.'

This is tough to decide who is the leader of Black community in US. Bill Clinton was famous for the support he received from the people of black community. Toni Morrison had once called him the first black president in US. People of African American community had supported him even at the time when Bill's policies proved as threatening for the low income people of this community. Will Obama successfully get such support when Hillary is in field? I think no.
